You have to open your heart and be completely vulnerable."

THE DANCER & THE CLOWN

Dance is the ultimate facilitator to free the body and express one’s true self. Grindl's workshops are designed to develop the clown through creative movement and dance.

In fact there has been a natural cross fertilization between these two art forms since the first cave man tripped and fell while dancing the great hunt story around the tribe's evening fire!

In this marriage of dancer and clown, students utilize the basic elements of classical, modern and freedance, choreography, improvisation, body awareness and pedestrian movement. They explore the relationships to sorrow and joy, fear and courage, and emptiness and fullness, to help unlock their limitless clown potential.

Grindl possess a rare combination of the spontaneity of a clown and the discipline of a trained dancer.

Throughout her extensive career she has taught and performed as a dancer and clown in North America, Europe and Japan, appearing at festivals, theatres and on television.

Her teaching credits include Passe Partout Studio and The Netherlands Clown School (Europe) as well as the Stratford Festival, Arts Umbrella, Claude Watson High School for the Performing Arts, York University and The Space (Canada).
